Autumn is upon us! For our customers, both local and new to the Erie area, we would like to share some of our favorite local events! From our family to yours, we wish you a beautiful autumn season!
There are a number of local fall festivals scheduled including The Wooden Nickel Buffalo Farm Fall Festival being held from 11am to 6pm on October 4,5,13 & 14 which will include crafts, decorations, homemade pies, along an abundance of locally grown pumpkins, apples, etc. Please visit www.woodennickelbuffalo.com for more details. Also, Peek’N Peak will be holding their 21st Annual Fall Fest on October 11, 12, 18 & 19 from 11am to 5pm. Haunted hayrides, haunted houses and haunted corn mazes…Oh My! Fun for all ages, the Corn Stalking USA corn maze is now open for the fall season! The Belle Valley Fire Department will present it's annual Halloween Haunted House, "Valley of the Ghouls", on October 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, & 31 from 7:30pm to 11pm. Details can be found at www.bellevalleyfire.com. If you’re in the mood for a spine chilling adventure, Eden Run Farm’s Haunted Hayride is sure to cure your craving! Every Friday and Saturday night in October from dusk to 11pm you can enjoy great food, a spooky campfire complete with scary stories, along with authentic coffin seated hayrides driven by the Grim Reaper himself! Another wildly popular and tremendously terrifying haunting spot can be found at The Halls of Fear, Erie’s premier haunted house attraction, ranking 67th over 20,000 haunted houses nationwide! Unique to the Halls of Fear, this haunted house offers festivities on Halloween night, after trick-or-treating hours. Looking for something less freighting? ‘ZooBoo’ is a spooky, but not too spooky, fun-filled event at the Erie Zoo featuring a variety of Halloween displays, costumed characters, a spooky train ride, carousel, crafts, face painting, games, and trick-or-treating for children 11 and under. Erie ZooBoo 2008 will run from October 17 through October 30 from 6pm to 9pm each night. Please visit www.eriezoo.org for details. Entertaining and informative, Presque Isle State Park will hold TREC or TREAT, which will highlight nature’s tricks & treats, debunk the fearful façade of Halloween’s animals, treat stations, costume contest and Halloween movie. For the eerie history buffs, there are a number of local tours designed to be both historical and spookily entertaining. Local author and historian, Stephanie Wincik,will discuss some of Erie County’s legends, lore, ghosts and spirits on October 28 at 7:30pm on the Mercyhurst North East campus. The Watson-Curtze Mansion will host a Horse Drawn Mystery Tour through the month of October, taking you on a unique journey of downtown Erie to pause at sites of bizarre happenings and spiritual unrest. Dinner and a show is also a great way to spend a cool autumn evening. Start your night off with a beautiful tour of Erie County Pennsylvania and Chautauqua County New York with Wine Tours designed by the dozens of local wineries found throughout the area. Wineries and Vineyards participating in the tours will offer an array of wines to suite any palate, along with samples of local foods and favorites. Always a Halloween favorite, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” will be presented at the Station Dinner Theatre with a family friendly live interactive performance. If you prefer cinema over theatre, The Eerie Horror Film Festival and Expo has proven to be an every growing part of the Halloween festivities here in Erie! From October 9-12 the Warner Theater will attract thousands of fans, filmmakers, screenwriters, game developers, and horror celebrities from all around the country.
