On the Road Again!

January 7, 2009 | Newsroom, Residential

In celebration of the decreasing gas prices this is the perfect time to explore what Erie’s surrounding areas have to offer! One of the great advantages of living in Erie is the multitude of amazing attractions that are easily within reach. Within hours and on one round trip tank of gas, you are within reach of events and attractions found in some of the largest and most popular cities in the country.

Buffalo, New York, is host to a wide variety of attractions including the Buffalo Zoo, Buffalo Museum of Science, and Albright-Knox Art Gallery. The Buffalo Zoo began as a deer park and is now the third oldest institution of its size in the country and is one of the largest and most modern facilities in our area. Open year round, the Zoo offers many exhibits including the Asian River and Highlands, African Watering Hole, South American Rainforest and Arctic Edge. The Buffalo Museum of Science offers fun for the whole family with an array of historical presentations from ancient Egypt artifacts to life-sized reconstructions of prehistoric dinosaurs. If the realm of the imagination thrills you, Buffalo is also the home of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Hosting art exhibitions from modern day to Claude Monet, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery is sure to inspire the inner artist in each of us, offering a unique diner to exhilarate your taste buds and a gift shop to take your favorite pieces home with you.

From Sinatra to Santana and Hendrix to Hall and Oates, Cleveland, Ohio, hosts its own Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to awaken the music lover in all of us. Enjoy the artwork, musical instruments, and personal belongings from the most loved and adored music artists throughout the centuries. Along with a Zoo and Art Museum of its own, Cleveland also takes pride in its Rockefeller Park Greenhouse. The Greenhouse exhibits lively displays of fresh plants and flowers celebrating all of the city’s seasons, including a wonderful display of winter’s own flower, the poinsettia.

Erie’s own state of Pennsylvania offers more than picturesque views of Lake Erie. The city of Pittsburgh offers an unconventional way to view Mount Washington, Duquesne Heights and the Golden Triangle of Downtown Pittsburgh with a trip on the historic funicular railway, The Duquesne Incline, in operation since 1877. The Duquesne Incline offers a trolley ride, of sorts, by traveling the City’s skyline, boasting the beauty Pittsburgh has to offer. After a morning of viewing the city from the sky, find your way back down to The Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh which offers an Art Museum, Museum of Natural History, Science Center, and The Andy Warhol Museum, sure to please even the most finicky of tourist.

When ‘Cabin Fever’ starts to set in this winter season, remember that all of these highlights, and more, can be found within a gas tank’s reach of Erie. On your way, be sure to watch for attractions that can be found off the beaten path, and hopefully you will find an attraction worthy of being added to your family’s list of favorites!

Happy trails to you, from all of us here at Baldwin Brothers, Inc.! And remember to have a safe trip.

Sincerely,
The Residential Rental Department
