Autumn Has Arrived!
Cool crisp air, falling crunchy leaves, and warm changing colors announce the arrival of Autumn here in Erie! Although another summer has gone too soon, Autumn is filled with a plentiful schedule and an array of beautiful scenery.
Spend an Autumn afternoon on a beautiful tour of Erie County Pennsylvania and Chautauqua County New York with Wine Trails designed by the dozens of local wineries found throughout the area. Wineries and Vineyards participating in the trails will offer a display of wines to suite any palate, along with samples of local foods and favorites. Take advantage of Trail Passports offering discounts, hotel accommodations, and special event invitations.
There are a number of local fall festivals scheduled including the 28th Annual Wine Country Harvest Festival of North East, the 22nd Annual Fall Fest at Peek’N Peak Resort, and The Wooden Nickel Buffalo Farm Fall Festival. Being held throughout September and October, these festivals include crafts, autumn produce and food, grape stomping competitions, pumpkin cannons, and corn mazes!
For the eerie history buffs, the Watson-Curtze Mansion will host a Horse Drawn Mystery Tour, taking you on a unique journey of downtown to pause at the best haunts Erie has to offer. You can also invite the Halloween spirit with walking cemetery tours through the Girard Cemetery.
A wildly popular and tremendously terrifying haunting spot can be found at The Halls of Fear, Erie’s premier haunted house attraction! Unique to the Halls of Fear, this haunted house offers festivities on Halloween night, after trick-or-treating hours. Monster positions are available now for those who would rather be doing the scaring than being scared! Looking for something less freighting? ‘ZooBoo’ is a not-so-spooky, fun-filled event at the Erie Zoo featuring trick-or-treating, train rides, crafts, face painting and more!
Each event offers an opportunity to experience something new and exciting. Ask the locals for recommendations to other events, restaurants, etc. As always, we encourage you to discover what the Erie area has to offer!
